Black Voices' fifth album shows why the group has been going strong since '88. If there's one thing this British group knows how to do well, it's to make their audience feel their music. A little less than half the album is original music, but it's heartfelt. Member Monique Reid's "Always In My Heart" is passionate and beautiful, and their "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" is upbeat and welcoming. Their contemporary covers are just as personalized, as witnessed by their slowed-down Rockapella's "Nowhere," with a smoky jazz-club sensuality. (50:46 1999)
