"This song is an amazing piece for advanced choir. I sang this in high school my senior year and it blew the audience away, especially when the choir opens the song with the first word, "Leonardo!" This pieces takes you for a plane ride like no other. Whitacre takes you into the mind of Leonardo da Vinci as birds, quills, parchments of paper, and the sound of the wind torments the mind of Leonardo as he dreams. Towards the end of the piece, Leonardo "takes one last breath and, Leaps!""

Great Song

"Eric Whitacre wrote a master of pieces, this song is a challenge we are rehersing it for choir, sprague high school. it has been a challenge but it is a great piece good for a top of the line high school group. the song talks about leonardo's struggle to build a flying machine and there is a part where the very air it self gives voice, and the last part is about the flight and it is just a great ending. It features a seven part harmony including a soloist, tamborine, and triangle. It is a wonderful piece and I am proud to sing it."
